Our History…

Meridian Construction & Development, Inc. was founded by Mark D’Agostino in October of 1999. The vision was to provide trusted commercial construction services as a general contractor. Mark believed his education, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, would bode well for starting a construction company

The name Meridian was conceived after reading a book about the discovery of longitude, Ships, Clocks, and Stars: The Quest for Longitude.

“On April 3, 1693, self-educated English carpenter and clockmaker John Harrison was born. Mr. Harrison participated in a competition that Parliament organized to find an instrument to help navigate the dangerous seas since pirates continually pirated cargo ships along existing shipping routes. Mr. Harrison ultimately invented a six-foot-tall marine chronometer, a long-sought-after device for solving the problem of calculating longitude while at sea. Longitude is synonymous with Meridian.”

After reading that story, Mark thought Meridian was the perfect name for the company. After all, he and the team help navigate clients through the choppy waters of construction from start to finish, just like a ship navigating to a safe harbor. The goal of Meridian Construction and Development is to ensure success through great communication, trust, and honesty.
