Remembering 9/11
Today, we reflect on 9/11 and all the people impacted by that tragic event.
In remembrance, we think about the work we did on the Spokane Valley Fire Department's admin building. Inside that building is a piece of steel from the World Trade Center towers that went down that day in 2001.
There is a dedication plaque near the steel beam that reads:
"Let this beam of rigid steel formed of the hands of men not represent the human atrocities committed on Sept. 11, 2001. Let it instead stand to bear witness to the strength of our resolve as a nation of people. Let it hold silent vigil and remind us all of the brave men and women who will be there for us in a time of need. This beam from the World Trade Center, forged by steel from fire, was placed here on 9-11-2011 by the hands of our community.”
